Maternity allowance is paid to people who are pregnant or who have recently had a baby and who do not qualify for statutory maternity pay, for example if they are self-employed.
You can get Maternity Allowance for up to 39 weeks.
You can get between £27 to £172.48 a week for up to 39 weeks if you’re self-employed. Around £6700.00
Maternity allowance is non-taxable.
Maternity allowance is not taken into account as income when calculating tax credits.
